Jemi ne Sicili ne mes te viteve '60, por epoka ngjan akoma me mesjeten. Burrat dhe grate nuk guxojne as te flasin me njeri tjetrin, ndersa traditat ruhen pike per pike. Dora e gruas duhet kerkuar ne familje, por disa here as familja nuk pranon. Atehere veprimi me i mire eshte te rrembesh gruan qe te pelqen, e cila do detyrohet te rrije me ate burre per kusurin e jetes se vet.
E tille eshte ngjarja qe shenon hapjen e filmit, por shpejt ngjarja behet komike, sepse rrembejne vajzen e gabuar. Pak rendesi ka kjo, perderisa nderi i femres thyhet pergjithmone. Por burri nuk deshiron ate femer dhe per ti shpetuar marteses te forcuar ose hakmarrjes iken ne Angli. Atehere familja e vajzes, qe ka mbetur pa asnje mashkull ne familje, dergon vajzen te laje nderin e vet. Por Londra eshte ndryshe, aty vertet ndjehet emancipimi i viteve '60. Vajzes i duhet te coje ne fund misionin hakmarres per te cilin erdhi, por bie ne kontakt me nje kulture te re.

Sjellja e kesaj vajze te prapambetur ne Londer ngjan shume me vajzat shqiptare qe shkelin per here te pare ne Itali me vize studenti. Te indoktrinuara dhe te turpshme duan te integrohen ne shoqerine e re, por sillen me menyrat e vjetra per kohe te gjate.

Filmi merr kantidature per Oscar si filmi i huaj me i mire dhe fiton David di Donatello. Aktorja protagoniste fiton shiritin e argjende ne 1969.

Pietro Germi ben dy filma te ngjashem per te spjeguar mentalitetin sicilian: "Divorzio all'italiana" (1961) dhe "Sedotta e abbandonata" (1964), por Mario Monicelli trajton Siciline me komicitetin e tij.

"The girl with the gun", directed in 1968 by Mario Monicelli and starring Monica Vitti, Stanley Baker and Carlo Giuffrè is one of the most successful Italian comedies. Monica Vitti is Assunta, a sicilian girl seduced and abandoned by Vincenzo (Carlo Giuffrè) who then he is escaped to London in order to avoid the repairing wedding. The only possibility that remains to Assunta in order to find again her lost honour is to kill the traitor, but arrived in the British capital city, after several bad adventures, she knows a doctor (Stanley Baker) and the young girl will go encounter to one deep metamorphosis dragged in the core of swinging London, in the middle of young hippies, the most colorful dresses and triggered Beat music. The film did get an Academy award nomination as best foreign film and star Monica Vitti won the Silver Ribbon like best actress. The score by Peppino De Luca, arranged and conducted by Vito Tommaso is the perfect music background for Assunta in a psychedelic London where the dance floor music prevails in the more fashionable clubs.
