I watched the movie of Frida and I have to say I got impressed. I knew already her work, but from a point of view so far and cold ("another surrealistic one I used to say to myself") - actually I always preferred the work of her compatriot Remedios Varo, from who I opened a theme in this forum as well.
Something I loved from the movie - I don't know if it was real - was her necessity of knowing how good was her paintings. She asked Diego Rivera - he was an experimented and famous painter -. "I need to know if I'm good". This is something so true... you need to know if your work is worth of it, cause you pour drops of your own life in every little line in a draw, you are always alone with your own world... and not all the people is ready to give a "considerable" critic. She thought her work was so personal that maybe nobody would be interested on it. However, Trosky said to her on the top of the mexican piramid, "your work is good, and must be shown to the whole world, cause other people can feel their reflections in your paintings, to understand their own solitude, like you feel it, like you show in every one of your painting".
I think this always has been the key in Art. To find yourself reflected through art. When you change your mind, you start to discover other different world, where there is no time, only fascination, fascination about the beauty in all its dimensions. Not everybody is ready to abandon the reality, it would mean to break with the regular order of a life. Delirious?
